December 2024
Dear Tiger Family,
As the year progresses, we continue to celebrate the many achievements and moments of connection that make our school community so special. We are excited to share some recent highlights and updates with you!
A group of our talented students recently traveled to Columbus to present both our One School, One Book program and our Curious Tigers program at the Ohio School Boards Association (OSBA) conference. These programs showcase the creativity, collaboration, and dedication of our students, staff and community, and it was an honor to see our students share their hard work with educators and leaders from across the state. Their presentation was met with enthusiasm, and we couldn’t be prouder of the way they represented our school.
We are also thrilled to announce that our Elementary and Middle School earned the PBIS Gold Designation from the State of Ohio! This prestigious recognition highlights the commitment of our students, teachers, and families to excellence in education. Achieving this designation is a true team effort, and we thank you for your input at parent teacher conference and your support in making our schools a place where students can thrive.
This season, we were reminded of the strength of our school community during the Thankful for You Breakfast event. Seeing so many families come together to share time and gratitude was heartwarming. Your presence and participation create lasting memories for all of us, and we deeply appreciate your continued involvement.
Our Tigers are Learners program is now in full swing, offering students exciting opportunities to participate in activities such as Art Club, Kindness Club, Curious Tigers, and academic enrichment. These programs encourage exploration, creativity, and personal growth, providing our students with meaningful ways to connect and learn outside the classroom.
As we approach the holiday season, we extend our warmest wishes to you and your families. May this time be filled with joy, relaxation, and togetherness. Thank you for being an integral part of our school community, and we look forward to continuing this journey of learning and growth with you.
Sincerely,
Mrs. Witt Mr. Crowder

Christmas Sing along
We are excited to invite you to our Kindergarten through Third Grade Sing-Along on December 17th! This festive program will begin at 1:00 PM at the high school and last approximately one hour. Each grade level has prepared two or three short songs to help us welcome the holiday season in style. Due to limited space, we kindly ask that only two friends/family members per family attend. Tickets will be sent home with the oldest student in the family. Tickets will be collected at the door on the day of the event.
To show support for all our students, we ask that attendees stay for the entire program. This ensures every performer feels celebrated and appreciated. A heartfelt thank you goes to our classroom teachers, who have worked diligently to make this event a joyful experience for all. We can’t wait to sing some carols, spread holiday cheer, and watch our students shine on stage!
Santa Shop
The ABC Santa Shop is just around the corner and will be open the week of December 9th, from Monday through Thursday! Schedules and shopping lists have already been sent home, so please check your child’s folder for details. This is a wonderful opportunity for students to shop for special gifts for their loved ones. The ABC Club is still looking for additional volunteers to help make this event a success. If you are available to lend a hand, please email abcclub@nfschools.org. Thank you for your support in creating a magical holiday experience for our students!
Leaders of the Month
Student Council
Our student council has been hard at work making a difference! Recently, they tackled the huge task of collecting and rolling all the change from our Kids Caring for Kids campaign for St. Jude, with wonderful assistance from Ellie Falb of the high school student council. This was a significant undertaking, and we are incredibly proud of their dedication to supporting such a meaningful cause. We collected $2,451.27.
Congratulations to Mrs. Woodley's class for raising the most money. They will enjoy a pizza and ice cream party.
Currently, the student council is spreading holiday cheer by hosting an ornament contest within the building. Each classroom will have a winner, and we can’t wait to see all the creativity on display! A big thank you to Mrs. Thompson for her leadership and guidance, which makes these initiatives possible.
PBIS Gold Designation
We are thrilled to share that our building has earned the prestigious PBIS Gold Designation from the State of Ohio! This recognition highlights our commitment to creating a positive and supportive learning environment for all students. The graph demonstrates the incredible improvement we’ve made in just one year across all areas of student support, reflecting the impact of our efforts. We are incredibly grateful for the dedication of our entire staff in providing a full continuum of support for our students and for the hard work of our PBIS team, whose leadership has been instrumental in achieving this milestone. Thank you for your continued support in fostering a thriving school community!
Huntington Tutoring
We are excited to share that we are once again partnering with Huntington Tutoring this year to support our Kindergarten, Fourth, and Fifth-grade students who are on Reading Improvement Plans. Huntington’s educators will work with our students in small, intensive groups, providing personalized instruction to help close reading gaps and build essential skills. As an approved provider through the Department of Education and Workforce, Huntington Tutoring delivers instruction grounded in the Science of Reading, ensuring students receive high-quality, research-based support. We are grateful for this partnership and look forward to seeing the growth our students will achieve!
BETA Club
The BETA Club is busy spreading holiday cheer and giving back to the community this season! Our gently used shoe drive continues through the end of December, with a goal of filling 100 bags, each holding 25 pairs of shoes. We are thrilled to report that we have already filled 77 bags—thank you for your generosity! Additionally, the Browns vs. Steelers fundraiser for the Voices of the Trumbull Pound Dogs has raised $189.00 as of December 4th, and we are excited to see this amount grow.
Our members are also sharing their time and talents this month. On Friday, December 6th, they will visit the Country Club Rehabilitation Center in Newton Falls to create Christmas crafts with the residents, returning the following week to deliver handmade Christmas cards. Some members will volunteer at the Fairhaven Foundation Winter Wonderland event on Saturday, December 7th, at the Eastwood Event Center. Others will help out at the High School National Honor Society’s Elf-in-Training Party on December 18th. Finally, members will be ringing the Salvation Army bell in Newton Falls to brighten the holiday season for all. We are so proud of their hard work and dedication!
Thank you for supporting the BETA Club’s efforts to make a difference in our community.
Leader In Me: Habit 4 Think Win - Win
Habit 4: Think Win-Win is all about fostering mutual respect and collaboration—a vital part of our Respectful, Responsible, Safe, and Learners Core Values. In class, students participate in lessons designed to help them develop this mindset, focusing on finding solutions that benefit everyone. Through engaging activities, they learn how to listen to others’ perspectives, express their own needs respectfully, and work toward outcomes where all parties feel valued. By practicing Think Win-Win, students are building skills that not only enhance their relationships but also contribute to a positive and productive school environment. Encourage your child to share examples of how they’ve applied this habit at school and at home!
