First Tiger mascot as seen in the 1950's yearbooks.
The Tiger mascot has a long, proud history at Newton Falls High School. The first time a Tiger mascot is found in any Newton Falls yearbooks is from the 1951-1952 school year. For the next couple of years, many people represented the Tiger in the large plastic mascot head and tiger striped costume. Many different variations of a Tiger mascot outfit were worn throughout the 60's and 70's that did not have a "Tiger Head" but more of a Tiger print cheer outfit.
Throughout the early 80's there is no evidence of a Tiger mascot. In the late 1980's, Carol Luomo and Kathy Rapczak helped raise donations from businesses in town to purchase a new mascot. This mascot was used until the 2000's.
During the 2007-2008 school year, Cheerleading Advisor Jody Kays helped to raise money for a new Tiger mascot. This mascot was used until 2019.
Most recently in the year 2019, the Newton Falls Touchdown Boosters Club graciously offered to purchase a new Tiger mascot for the school.
