APAC Junior Achievement Company of the Year Finals 8th- 10th November - Update
Readcycle, led by Arda, Sean, Calista and Sirena, had a wonderful, yet intense 3 days sharing their business learning journey and interacting with other winning companies in the Asia Pacific region (18 companies from 10 countries). It involved interviews, presentations, master classes, workshops, music, dance, fanfare and celebration. Unfortunately, they did 'bag' a prize, but as always JA is an incredible learning experience that is highly regarded around the world, making it to the regional finals, makes them all winners!!! Well done Readcycle, we are all proud of your efforts and your incredible journey, you certainly have an exciting story to tell!
The Green Guardians are super excited to share the progress of the level 5 garden! You may have seen the variety of plants which are growing in the different beds, well you will also be tasting some of them soon! Rosemary, chillies, okra, egg plant, sweet and thai basil, dill are a few of the plants that we have planted. We have also planted different salad seeds, so we are excited to see them grow in the next couple of weeks. Victus (the cafeteria) will be helping us to harvest, once the plants are ready and will be planning the menus to include them. All of this will help to significantly reduce our food miles, making us a more sustainable community.
As well as the tasty benefits, growing plants improves our environment visually and also helps clean our air. It helps keep our community fit and healthy as well as giving us different kinds of focuses in school. We have really enjoyed working together and learning how to care for the plants.
Look out for our stall at the Christmas Fair on 2nd December. We will be selling our own Chilli and Rosemary infused olive oil for you to take home and cook with!
Our Year 7 learners had the incredible opportunity to work alongside a "real" architect Louise Otto (ARB RIBA RIAS). Our special guest spoke about architectural drawing, analysed the problem of designing for limited space and answered learner's questions about her professional experience. This was all to launch the new Year 7 Design unit on Tiny Homes. The learners had an incredible experience of learning from a professional, and we would like to thank Louise for giving up her time.
