Nexus Beat IX took place last night and the Auditorium atmosphere was electric. With 19 bands/performers from Y5-13 they had our toes tapping, body shuffling and dancing in our seats. The amazing musicianship and confidence displayed on stage from each of them was wonderful to see and certainly inspiring for any of our younger learners who are eager to learn an instrument or join a band. Thank you to all the parents and supporters in the audience your cheers, applause and smile really help to provide a positive and safe performance platform.
Last nights performance was recorded and we will share this in the next newsletter however please see below a few candid shots!
Moving forwards we are looking for further opportunities to develop our rock band programme with more performance opportunities. If anyone in Secondary would like to join a rock band feel free to come along to the music department each Wednesday after school to the Rock Band CCA and we can team you up with like minded musicians and kick start you on your journey to stardom! Any Primary Y5/6 learner contact Ms Tash.
In addition those bands that performed will be invited to perform again in the canteen at lunchtime or Eco Cafe before school as well as some bands will also perform at the NEXUS Food fair next term. All current bands are encouraged to jump straight back into the music studios and begin learning song number 2 or even 3!
A big thank you to Rich from Songwork International who sponsored our event. They are going to be offering some songwriting workshops and song production/recording for 2 of the performances and this will be announed shortly. Rich spent 2 days with our learners during sound checks providing his wisdom and expertise to enhance their performances on stage and make suggestions to create that X Factor. We look forward to collaborating with Songwork again in the future.
The session was filmed and you access the footage here if you missed the session. The key takeaways were to make sure that you have logged into Canvas (our Learning Management System) on a desktop rather than the app, then have a look at what your child is doing in the classroom, how their home learning is going and also take a look at their formative assessments for the MYP so far! Canvas is a really powerful tool, that gives you, the parents, that window into the classroom.
We look forward to delivering more of our parent workshops in languages other than English.
