The IGCSE examination timetable is here. Examinations begin on April 26th and will continue until the 16th of June. Please notes there are exams scheduled on public holidays and some exams will run outside of regular school hours. Learners must bring their Nexus ID card in order to avoid unnecessary delays. Nexus has no control over these times and dates as they are set by the respective exam boards based in the UK.
The IGCSE examination entry forms will go out to Y11 learners on Thursday the 16th of February. Parents or guardians will need to confirm the exam entries, learners need to return the forms by Tuesday the 21st of February.
Nexus holds trial examinations for Year 11 learners from 9th January to 20th January and for Year 10 learners from 10th April to 20th April. These are deliberately placed to allow maximum teaching to have occurred before the assessments to ensure realistic experiences for learners and authentic feedback on their performance. These dates also ensure that there is sufficient time for learners to work with their teachers to maximise their chances of success.
The IB have published a provisional schedule for the May 2023 examinations which run between April 27th and May 19th. Please note Nexus has no control over these dates and they can run on public holidays.
We will be sharing some really useful resources, videos and training over the upcoming months with our community. If you have a child in Year 6 going into the Year 7 MYP next year, or if your child is currently in Year 7 or 8, you will find these quick bits of learning really helpful.
We will keep these little learning 'bites' to around 3 minutes.
If you missed the Parent Workshop on assessment in the MYP please feel free to catch up on the session here!
The workshop was delivered in both English and Mandarin.

In the last newsletter we let you know that our Year 9 learners had started their Community Project. As the pioneers for this project at the school the learners have split into groups and started to think about a way they can take action to make a difference in their school or community. Some key dates to note for next week are;
Wednesday 22nd February from 11.15-12.15pm during PSHE time: Learners will be with their Community Project supervisors. They will go over some FAQs that have come up, fill in a google form to help them focus their ideas and also see an example of a project from start to finish.
Thursday 23rd February from 2.25 - 3.25pm in the MPH. Year 9 learners will be off timetable and will have a session with Miss Jo and Miss Steph on the next steps of their project and learn about proposal writing and how to reach out to charities and organisations. There will also be some very special (little!) guests speaking about some service learning that they have been doing.
Friday 24th February from 1.50 - 2.20pm . Learners will be with their Community Project supervisors and wrap up the week by working on actions, goals and getting projects up and running!
