Dear Parents and Guardians,
I know that many of our parents attended a session hosted by Paul McGee last week, who joined us all the way from the UK to talk about his approach to resilience. The SUMO guy (as he is sometimes known) spent time with parents, staff and learners sharing some great tips about we can change how we feel about a situation. I am still thinking about his analogy of that beach ball and how we might only see one side of the ball and therefore only a few of the colours on our side; but what does the other side look like - might their be a different point of view of different way to look at a situation?
Paul McGee wrapped up our Wellbeing Week events which also saw our learners coming face to face with some furry friends! having therapy dogs and therapy horses in the school was a superb way to carve out some time to do a different activity and to take some time to think about our wellbeing and mental health. Having gratitude for the support of our friends and family was such a lovely theme for the week.
It was wonderful to have around 60 of our parents popping in to hear about MYP assessment this week. It was delivered in both English and Mandarin thanks to the bi-lingual skills of Miss Gabby! (what a super star!) Our parents asked some GREAT questions about how their children are assessed and we have encouraged them to follow up at the upcoming Learning Conferences on the 9th and 10th of March.
The session was filmed and you can access the footage here if you missed the session. The key take aways were to make sure that you have logged into Canvas (our Learning Management System) on a desktop rather than the app, then have a look at what your child is doing in the classroom, how their home learning is going and also take a look at their formative assessments for the MYP so far! Canvas is a really powerful tool, that gives you, the parents, that window into the classroom.
Wishing you all a lovely weekend
Best wishes
