A first-of-its-kind, this series "Celebrating our Learners" aims to applaud our learners - who they are, the hard work they've put in, their achievements and their dreams. Please scroll down to read on!
Year 7 learners made a great start to their learning in Individuals & Societies. Individuals & Societies is the term used by the International Baccalaureate to describe all Humanities based subjects. Year 7 started MYP I&S by developing the skills used by Historians and Geographers.
This week, they have been trying to solve the 5,000-year-old mystery of Otzi the Iceman using these skills. Learners explored all the events leading up to his death. This included studying the environment where he died, identifying the artefacts he was found with and also examining the medical reports of his body. Their task was then to write their own police report on what they think happened to Otzi.
Ronav Menon in Year 7 is destined for great things. In this video, he played a real-life Marvel superhero who saved a damsel in the park by deflecting a football in the nick of time in a Disney Image Spot: https://fb.watch/7WCil2v8PZ/
And in this video. he did the voiceover for the Asian Civilisation Museum - A Walkthrough on Ceramics: https://youtu.be/08mkqd7Skmw
Drama and theatre studies not only provide a creative outlet for learners but also build their confidence for public speaking and communicating with new people. Great work Ronav! We look forward to seeing your next production.
Well done to these learners in Science! They have had a fantastic start to the academic year and shown themselves this month to be superstars in their Science lessons here at Nexus! Congratulations.
