Our Facebook NPG group is a place for all our parents (and other members that are close friends of Nexus) to interact and create a closer community. Please feel free to post questions, reminders or any related comments. Please do refrain from lodging sales posts, we do have the second-hand buy-and-sell group for these posts or advertising your business. Please feel free to also email us at any time npg@nexus.edu.sg
We have two NPG-organised end of year school events coming up:
Tuesday 4 June, 8:45am, NPG Lounge
Please join us in the NPG Lounge at 8:30am on 4 June for a coffee and pastry on us. No speakers, no presentations, just the NPG General Committee and NPG Class Reps saying thank you to all parents for your support, feedback and help throughout the 2018-2019 academic year. See you in the NPG Lounge
Thursday 6 June, 7:30pm, venue TBA
We’ve reached the end of yet another academic year, the school has excelled, the community has grown and the move to our new school is fast approaching, it’s time to laugh, celebrate, say “see you soon”, or say “goodbye”. Please keep the evening of 6 June free for drinks and finger food. It’ll be casual and a great opportunity to wish friends and neighbours a safe and happy summer holiday (or winter holiday, for those of us hailing from below the Equator). Watch this space and just block the date for now because all we can give you at the moment is the date and the promise of bonhomie. All parents welcome.
Happy Buddha’s Birthday to the Nexus community’s many Buddhist followers and families. It is a little-known fact that those wishing to participate in Vesak celebrations need not be Buddhist but good deeds must abound – a wonderful message of inclusion and charity. Head to Singapore’s oldest Buddhist temple, Lian Shan Shuang Lin (Buddha’s Tooth Relic Temple and Museum), in the heart of Chinatown to observe prayers and celebrations. 288 South Bridge Road. The NPG wishes for all observers to have a wonderful celebration with friends and family, and for all families to enjoy their Monday off!
One of our School’s unique pillars is what many parents and staff describe as a special community spirit. The NPG serves dual purposes within our community. Firstly, to provide parents with a platform through which to start conversations and provide feedback to the School – to be “a voice of the School community”. Secondly, to offer a range of great social, cultural and special interest events. We welcome all volunteers to join our vibrant and diverse committee, with the main aim of maintaining an inclusive NPG where all ideas are considered valuable.
Warmest wishes,
Simon Hyett, President of the Nexus Parent Group
