The end of the academic year is fast approaching and being the busiest time for the library staff we need your support. All learners books should have been returned by now. Please check at home to see if you have any outstanding books and let us know if there are any issues.
During the school holidays, the library will complete its annual stock take. For all other borrowers in our school community, we would appreciate your cooperation to return any items by the 1st June 2018.
A big thank you to all our library volunteers. We could not have got through the year without your help with library duties and the beautiful displays. Happy holidays!
Primary Teacher Librarian
Over the next two weeks, our attention begins to turn to transitions. The significant transitions are from Kindergarten to Year 1 and from Year 6 to Year 7.
Our Year 6 learners will be spending time in the Secondary School next week in preparation for moving to Year 7 in August. They will experience lessons in the Secondary School, have the opportunity to meet tutors and some of the subject teachers and even take part in a morning of team-building games with Year 7 learners.
We also help support our Kindergarten learners as they transition to the big-wide world of Year 1. The children will be involved in a series of events and activities to prepare them for their move to Year 1. I'm sure these activities will enable the Kindergarten children to build lasting friendships with our Year 1 learners and aid their transition to Year 1 in August.
For other learners, staff are beginning to have conversations with them about transitions - sharing thoughts and answering questions about moves to new classes or perhaps transitions to other countries or back to 'home' countries. For those children staying at Nexus, part of these conversations will include identifying learners that they work well with. These conversations form part of the decision making as staff group children for next academic year's classes. We allocate class places on a range of factors (including teacher knowledge, academic development) to ensure the best outcomes for all the children.
Once we are aware of all learners arriving in August 2017, we will finalise classes and share these with with you before the new academic year starts.
Final Day of Term
Term ends at 12 noon on Friday 8 June. All learners and visitors are expected to leave the site by 12.15pm as the site will be cleared at that point.
