Physical literacy provides children the skills and confidence to be physically active for life. Physical literacy is not just about sport - it is about giving children the opportunity to enjoy active participation in all aspects of life such as swimming at the condo, dancing or going for a walk. Children need both the opportunity to explore movement through active play & instruction.
Please ensure your child has a water bottle and appropriate footwear (trainers, no crocs or sandals) on PHE days.
As we finished up our first unit, some learners re-tested their fitness and others created their own workout. Learners connected the long and short-term changes that happen in their bodies as well as measuring heart rates. Our reflections have gone online but we are looking forward to beginning unit 2 when we return.

Research has shown there is a link between exercise and memory capacity of our hippocampus, which is primarily associated with memory and learning. Swimming is a key movement activity to develop overall brain and physical functions in the early years.
Water itself is therapeutic in nature. Being in the water, having fun with other learners, while learning at a gentle and gradual pace, provides each learner with their mental and socio-emotional needs.
