Pots and Pans - A request from Year 6 learners

Hello,

I am Carrie in Y6. Right now we are doing the Year 6 PYP Exhibition. To present at the exhibition the other cooks and I planning to create a big art piece with old pots, pans and more!

If you have any old cooking utensils, pots, pans & other cooking supplies that you are happy to never get back that we can use, please bring them in as soon as possible. If you can drop them off in your children's classroom as soon as possible that would be great!

Thank you for all of your help! Kind Regards,

Carrie and the Year 6 cooking team.

Please note that due to the public holiday, the last lessons for Danish and Hindi (Wednesday class) will be on Wednesday, 29 May. The last lesson for Japanese will be on Tuesday, 28 May as the teacher will be unavailable the following week.

PLEASE NOTE THAT THIS WEEK IS THE LAST WEEK THAT THE 4.30PM CCA SCHOOL BUS WILL BE RUNNING.

Please arrange for your child to be picked up if he/she has any activities happening after school from next week, 21 May until the end of the term.

We thank you for all your support and we really hope that your child enjoyed the programmes this season!

Bug Busting

A reminder that last Wednesday was our whole school Bug-Busting Day. If you haven't already, please may we ask you to carry out the Bug-Busting Method.

The Bug-Busting Method is a systematic approach to the eradication of head lice. 'Bug-Busting' method is strongly encouraged to be undertaken on each child on a weekly basis as part of the normal personal hygiene routine.

Here are the simple steps you can do at home;

1. Wash hair and rinse as normal. Apply a good quantity of hair conditioner to wet hair, ensuring coverage from root to tip.

2. Comb the hair with a normal comb to untangle hair strands.

3. Part hair in small sections to check for live lice and eggs. If head lice are detected proceed to step 4. If head lice are not detected, rinse hair and dry as normal. Repeat ‘Bug-Busting’ method in 7 days.

4. With conditioner in place, comb through hair methodically with head lice comb, held at approximately 45 degrees angle to head. Ensure the teeth of the comb touch the scalp. Wipe comb after every stroke.

5. Rinse hair and dry as normal.

6. Repeat procedure every fourth day for 2 weeks, to ensure eradication of adult and newly hatched lice.

Thank you for your cooperation.

School Closures

Please note that the school is closed on Monday to observe Vesak Day. School will reopen on Tuesday, 21 May 2019. School is also closed on Wednesday, 5 June 2019 for Hari Raya Puasa.

Uniform from August 2019

As mentioned in previous communications, we are changing our uniform provider in August 2019. The parents, learners and staff who were involved in the decision chose really strong new designs which are a pleasing evolution of our current uniform, with fit and comfort being key factors in the decision-making.

As we go through the transition process it will be fine for learners to wear either old or new uniform to school.

We look forward to sharing final images and details of the ordering process once our new provider has completed the first production run and is ready to go! This week some of our learners have been trying on prototypes of the new uniform to check for fit.
