From our Head of Primary
It has been another fortnight full of exciting activities across the Primary School. Do take a moment to look at the Recent Events, Arts, Sports and CCA sections for lots of photos of all the great events. One particular highlight was the amazing Year 3 Learner-Led Inquiry Science Workshops, with learners all carrying out their own scientific modelling of natural phenomenon, from soil erosion to crystal creation and earthquake similations to stalactite and stalagmite formations. Meanwhile, the Year 4 leaners' enterprises opened for business. The Year Market Day was a huge success, with many of the stall doing a roaring trade I think that parents and the Nexus Bank (managed by Mr Beach) will see a very positive return on their investments.
To celebrate this special month of Ramadan and share in this special month for our Muslim families we would like to invite all Nexus families to a shared Iftar (breaking of the fast meal) on Wednesday, 29 May.
Venue: Astro turf next to the staff lounge and climbing frame.
Date: Wednesday, 29 May 2019
Time: The fast is broken at the time of the sun starting to set (7.09pm in Singapore), but please feel free to arrive anytime after 6.30pm.
Food: Please bring along a sharing dish for a pot luck style meal. We would appreciate it if no nuts, pork or lard are contained in the dish.
Please do note that both the ACSIS sports season and our CCA programme have now finished. It has been fantastic to see all the learners involved in so many activities beyond the classroom. For further details, please see the Important Announcements section.
Finally, a reminder that the school is closed on Monday to observe Vesak Day. School will reopen on Tuesday, 21 May 2019. May I wish all our families that celebrate this special time, peace and happiness on Vesak Day and always.
Best regards,
Paul Beach.
Our New School
The construction of our new school continues rapidly. The team are now working on the flooring and cabinet making on most floors and it is starting to look like a real school. Even some of the landscaping has begun.
