Welcome back to school, we are very excited to be back in the music department and welcome learners to a new year filled with music! Our teachers, Clare Lambert, Andrew Fordham and Christopher Jung are busy planning an array of learnign engagements, ensembles and events for the year. We also welcome our new Music Administrator, Eunice Goh to the team who will be assisting within the music team and working alongside learners throughout the year.

During the first term learners will be discovering an array of concepts or skills within their music sessions. These may be linked to their Units of Inquiry in the Homeroom or stand-alone inquiries. These are:

• Nursery - Sing it! Play it!
• Kindergarden - Senses
• Y1 - Musical Games
• Y2 - Graphic Scores
• Y3 - Rhythm and Texture
• Y4 - Note reading C to C
• Y5 - Duration and Pitch
• Y6 - Song writing using chords

We have an array of music ensembles on offer from now until Christmas. Most ensembles will be working towards the Secondary Music Concert (November), Carols by Candlelight and assemblies.

Our 2nd ‘Instrumental Petting Zoo’ took place last week. It was another great success with many Primary learners having the opportunity to see, feel and play a variety of instruments each day. This experience has already inspired many learners to start individual or duo lessons as part of the Instrumental programme at Nexus. Many others have signed up for a free trial lesson on an instrument or two of their choice.
