Music in Diversity Week!

It has been an amazing week of performances from the learners throughout this week, when Nexus School has been celebrating Diversity within our community. Throughout the week we have been given opportunities to watch and enjoy learners express themselves musically both in the Bus Bay in the mornings and on Thursday and Friday, with some solo and group performances in the cafeteria.

The following learners took the opportunity to express themselves:

Evelyn Maksimov Y4, Sophie Fong Y5, Indi Marsh Y6, Sosuke Kakuchi Y6, Kristen Chan Y7, Orla Stark Y7, Gabriela Y8, Kian, Victor and Nazneen Y8, Nanda and Olly Y10, James Richards Y11, Thomas Wann Y11, Andrew David Y11, Clement Boulier Y11, Justin Ahn Y11, Angel Liu Y11 and Yijia Sun Y11.

These learners should be congratulated on their risk-taking, courage and commitment. Encore!

The week also featured a stunning musical performance of the song ‘Speechless’ which was performed at four consecutive assemblies to the whole school. This song was chosen this year to celebrate the idea of diversity, with the chorus:

I won't be silenced

You can't keep me quiet

Won't tremble when you try it

All I know is I won't go speechless

'Cause I'll breathe

When they try to suffocate me

Don't you underestimate me

'Cause I know that I won't go speechless

Performing on the stage were over 100 musicians and singers from the combined Primary and Secondary choirs and the Secondary Orchestra. Each performance was spectacular - thanks to everyone who took part.
