Book Exchange - "Don't judge a book by its cover"
As responsible consumers (Global Goal 12) learners in years 5 and above are invited to exchange a book they have enjoyed for something they have never read before. Over the next week during break time or library lessons, learners can bring a book they would like to exchange to the Learning Resource Hub. They will write a “gift tag” describing the book and then wrap it up. During Book Week all those who have brought in a book will be able to search through the wrapped books, read the tags and select something new to read based on the description and not just the cover.

Nexus Book Week runs from 25th to 29th April and we wish to invite members of our parent community to share reading experiences based on the prompt ‘A Book That Changed My Life.’ With a talk delivered from our Auditorium on Wednesday 27th April, we would love to hear about books that have moved you, changed your path or simply transformed your outlook on life or your philosophy.
We hope this will be a great way to celebrate the power of reading with parents. Please complete this form as an expression of interest!

Exciting news! First ever Gamelan music ensemble at Nexus International School - 9-11 May.
What is Gamelan?
Gamelan, the term for a traditional musical ensemble in Indonesia, typically refers to a percussion orchestra composed predominantly of tuned gongs of various types and metal-keyed instruments. The ensemble is conducted by a drummer, and often includes voice, bamboo flute, xylophone, and stringed instruments.
What will we be doing?
Nexus will host a two-day workshop where learners will be introduced to the different instruments in a Javanese gamelan ensemble as well as basic techniques of playing gamelan. The main focus of the workshop is playing and making music together as a team. Learners will also learn more about the significance of gamelan in cultivating a cultural identity in South East Asia. The programme will be conducted by 2 instructors.
On Tuesday we ran our very well attended TRANSITIONING FROM YEAR 6 TO 7 Parent Workshop
We have these primary focused Parent Workshops still to come.

UNDERSTANDING THE PROGRAMME OF INQUIRY
The Programme of Inquiry is the road map of how the units are organised across the entire Primary Years Programme from Nursery to Year 6.
It therefore provides an overview for each Unit of Inquiry for each year group, and how they fall under each Transdisciplinary Theme. This workshop will define each theme and how it is developed through the Units of Inquiry.
This workshop will also feature the Programme of Inquiry for the academic year 2022/23.
