Happy New Year to all members of our wonderful community. 2017 was an eventful year for the Nexus Parent Group. Some great events, friendships forged and the witnessing of further growth at our school as the exciting new-build draws nearer. We hope to make 2018 another year to remember.
One of the main pillars of our school is the evolution of what many parents and staff describe as a unique community spirit. The NPG serves two purposes within this community - to provide parents with a platform through which to start conversations with, and provide feedback, to the School and to provide a range of great social and special interest events. We welcome all volunteers to join our vibrant and diverse committee, with the main aim of maintaining an inclusive NPG where all ideas are considered valuable.
Many of us work part-time or full-time, many of us travel and some of us lack domestic assistance, so it doesn’t matter if you can provide a lot of time to the NPG or a little, all contributions are welcome. Our goal is to build a great 2018 calendar, and be open, honest and transparent representatives of all Nexus parents, but we can’t do it alone – we need your help.
Please approach any of the team in the NPG Room at anytime to volunteer your assistance or email us using the address below.

Chair of Nexus Parent Group
The start of 2018 has seen the arrival of many new children and parents to the Nexus community. It can be a difficult time for these new arrivals, and not just the children! So, we'd like to ask for volunteers to be 'Parent Buddies' to be help new parents integrate. This might just mean being a friendly face to chat to at drop-off or someone to help with the logistics of being new in Singapore (where to do grocery shopping, which doctor to go to, etc). So, if you'd be interested in helping, please email simon@bandontherun.com.sg and mattcooper30@hotmail.com so that we can see if we have enough interest to provide this support in the coming weeks.
We bid a reluctant and sad goodbye to a pillar of our community, the Ames family, at the end of the year. Kerri - who contributed so much to the School and the NPG, was ever-present and ever supportive – and the family relocated in December. The NPG wishes Kerri, Jeff, Emma, Sarah and William all the very best and hopes to see them visit Nexus sometime soon!
Kerri was the NPG’s energetic Secretary and as such we are looking for a Nexus parent to fill Kerri’s shoes. For further information, or just an honest discussion on the responsibilities of the role and the commitment needed, please send an email to simon@bandontherun.com.sg and we can have a casual chat.
Our next two Friday NPG Coffee Mornings will be on 19 January and 23 February.
All parents are welcome to join us in the NPG for a coffee and a chat.
