Dear Parents & Caregivers,
First, my huge thanks to all staff, parents and learners involved in helping us celebrate Deepavali along with our Hindu families last week.
It was wonderful to see learners dressed in their traditional Indian clothes and several learners shared with us how and why they celebrate Deepavali, during our online assembly.
Our Year 3 learners had spent time during their Unit of Inquiry considering Deepavali celebrations and created a beautiful Rangoli pattern from flower petals in our main atrium.
We also spent time last week collaborating in our teams as part of our Professional Learning Day. We continually strive to ensure our staff have access to research-based pedagogy and practice so they may continue to deliver the best possible learning opportunities. Our team collaboration builds trust, accountability, confidence and strength.
All our teams have goals linked to our school's strategic plan to further our learners' development, understanding and sense of self. In our 'News From The Year Groups' section this week, the teams have shared their goals with you. Please take a look to see what they have been focusing on and the potential impact on our learners.
Many of you are aware of my desire for us all to have a shared understanding of our Primary Years Programme framework.
On Tuesday, 2 November, Paul Rimmer, our PYP coordinator ran an online Parent Workshop to unpick our Scope & Sequence documents - these are the curriculum documents that articulate the sequence of coverage for any curriculum area. Our scope and sequence documents are now available on our Primary Parent Zone (under Primary downloads) for you to take a look at.
Wishing you all a relaxing weekend.
Warm regards
Fiona Lewis
