Our Year 13s celebrated their final day of school! Many chose to dress up as their favourite teachers for the day which created a lot of fun in guessing who they all were. We said goodbye and wished them good luck in an informal event in the IB Common Room. We had a fun awards ceremony and a 'guess the baby' photos quiz. Y13 IBDP exams have now started and we wish them all the best for these important exams. Our graduation ceremony will be on Thursday 22 May once all their exams are complete.
The second Arts rotation wrapped up last week and learners are now on to their final rotations of the Arts carousel for the academic year. Some of the work from the first rotation of semester 2 is currently on display in the Atrium on Level 2.
Year 7 Visual Arts have produced some beautiful reductive lino prints based on cultural patterns, printing multiple copies to create a tessellation. This process involved designing a square lino, carving and printing in at least 4 colours, each colour adding to the previous one, a complicated process that yields great results! Some examples of 7B & 7R's work can be seen below.
Year 8 Visual Arts have created some awe inspiring detailed pen drawings of an endangered animal from their home country, using their art to create awareness, conversation and advocate on behalf of these animals. They drew the animals and created texture of feathers, fur, skin or scales to replicate the surface qualities of their chosen creature. They also collaged news headlines and articles about their animal into the background. Additionally, they have created a small booklet about their animal to share with younger learners in the PYP program. Some examples of 8W & 8G's work can be seen below.
