GL PTM & PTE Assessments for Year 4-6 Learners
GL PTM & PTE Assessments for Year 4-6 Learners
In the next few weeks, the majority of our Y4 - Y6 learners will complete the GL PTM (Progress Test in Maths) and PTE (Progress Test in Literacy).
The PTM and PTE are assessments designed to help us understand strengths and areas for improvement in Maths and English. They have been designed with an understanding of international educational standards and frameworks. These tests aim to track progress, identify learning gaps, and guide teaching.
The GL PTM and PTE will support us with:
An external evaluation of core skills in mathematical literacy and reading that allows us to evaluate the reliability of our internal assessments.
A reliable external tool that helps us reflect and refine the quality of our Nexus curriculum.
A detailed set of reports summarising our school’s results and comparative data that allow us to easily identify areas of strength or weakness and trends over time.
Comparisons of learner cohorts with other participating learner cohorts in the same year group. This provides a means for us to monitor cohort performance against international expectations.
If you would like to find out more about the GL Assessment Suite, you can visit their website or contact our Head of Primary, Fiona Lewis. If you do not want your child to be included in these assessments, please let us know by Monday 12 May 2025.

We will share the main findings next academic year when the data is fully analysed.
