Home learning is a great way to space out practice. Small changes in the way home learning is used can make a big difference to learners ability to be able to remember information.

Maths home learning tracker

Each week learners will be given 5 or 10 questions on eedi.co.uk. Each topic is revisited 2 weeks later and the following term.

Geography Revision Tracker

Units are colour coded and revisited for home learning on a weekly basis. Learners are encouraged to also return the areas they believe to be green, to ensure they still remember them.

Anecdote from Sam

This year (Aug 2019) I have planned out my homework tasks for the whole of the year for Year 13 so that I can use spaced practice. Planning for the whole year, for me, makes it easier for me to actually stick to it! Otherwise, with the best will in the world, I get 'bogged down' in what we are doing in lessons and set homework relevant to the lessons instead.

Some of my tasks include:

• Completing a practice Paper 1 on a topic loosely connected to the Part 2 text we are studying (eg. whilst Studying 'The Handmaid's Tale' setting a Paper 1 centred around gender equality - an address to the UN and an advert from the 90s of 'How to get a woman'!)
• Setting a revision task for a Part 2 text studied previously whilst studying a different Part 2 text (eg. during the week of exploring character in 'Chronicle of a Death Foretold', the homework task would be a character profile for a character from 'The Handmaid's Tale')
• Using a retrieval grid with 9 different options of tasks to revisit a text previously studied whilst studying another text.
