  • Building Knowledge Through Words: Latin and Greek Roots- Grades 4-12

  • The Syntax Project- Lessons for writing

  • FASTbridge: Reading and math interventions- lots of scripts and training for the five literacy components, and math components

  • Superkids (Skill-building book)- This book provides intervention ideas to supplement struggling or excelling students- available to all classroom teachers

  • SRA Corrective Reading program

  • Sights for Sounds

  • SCRED- St. Croix River Education District: A gold mine of interventions and resources for EVERYTHING- handwriting, writing, vocabulary, comprehension, etc.

  • Reading Corps program- one or two students meet daily with a reading tutor

  • iTutoring- partnership with Martin Luther College- students are matched with a college student who does repeated reading with comprehension with students three times weekly, through a google meet setting

Specific Interventions and Other Resources

• Phonemic Awareness (PA) Interventions: FAST phonemic awareness activities- Log on to FAST to see these- should not be used independently, but comprehensively with other skills/strategies

• Kilpatrick's Equipped for Reading Success- One minute PA drills- use in a comprehensive phonics intervention- book form

• Heart Word intervention: Irregularly spelled sight words - See intervention specialist or SPED department staff if heart word flash cards are needed- use in a comprehensive phonics intervention

• PRESS interventions : Most teachers have PRESS manuals- PRESS manuals include phonological awareness, phonics, fluency, vocabulary, and comprehension

• Duet Reading : Specific intervention to increase accuracy and fluency.

• Pencil tap : For accuracy if students do not self-correct

•  Repeated reading- to increase fluency and comprehension

• Cover-Copy-Compare : Acquisition of spelling or sight words
