A little about me:
I am originally from a little town called Lowville, in Northern NY. I have 2 sisters and a brother. My Mom, Dad and siblings all still live in NY - I visit whenever I get a chance!
I began my musical journey in elementary school and learned how to play the recorder in 3rd grade, then began clarinet in 4th and later picked up the saxophone and oboe. I have been singing since chorus began in 4th grade.
I graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Music Education from Hartwick College in Oneonta, NY. From there, I moved to Boston in 2007 and have been here since. I received my Master's degree in Music Education from the Hartt School of Music, University of Hartford, in Hartford, CT in 2010. I have training and certification in Kodaly and Conversational Solfege. During my time in Boston, I have performed with a collaborative orchestra and chorus ensemble, Calliope and spent a few years performing in the local band, Loose Change.
I live in Holliston, with my husband, who you might know as Mr. Torch here at school, our puggle named Birdie and our newest addition, our son, Lucas who was born in December of 2022.
When I'm not teaching, I love to listen to music, sing, and play instruments. I also enjoy long walks, reading, hiking, yoga, being outdoors and spending time with friends and family.
I am looking forward to another great year of music making at Mason-Rice!
