This is the introductory class that all students must take if they want to take upper level classes.
Students will learn about hazards in the workplace as well as greenhouse safety
Students will learn the different Breeds of Livestock
Students will participate in numerous labs in the classroom as well as outside and in the greenhouse.
This course is designed as the foundational course for all Agriculture, Food & Natural Resources Pathways. The course introduces the major areas of scientific agricultural production and research; presents problem solving lessons and introductory skills and knowledge in agricultural science and agri-related technologies. Classroom and laboratory activities are supplemented through supervised agricultural experiences and leadership programs and activities. This course is the prerequisite for all AFNR pathways and is intended for students in grades 8-10.
This is the second-level required class for all Agriculture pathways. After this class, students have the option of taking either Nursery and Landscape or Floral Design... or both!
Students will learn about plant parts and their functions.
Students will learn about different careers available in the Horticulture Industry.
Students will spend a lot of time outside and in the greenhouse.
This course is designed as an introduction for the Horticulture-Plant Science Pathway Program of Study. The course introduces the major concepts of plant and horticulture science. Classroom and laboratory activities are supplemented through supervised agricultural experiences and leadership programs and activities.
This is one of the options to take in order to finish the Agriculture Pathway.
Students will learn to use a variety of landscaping tools and equipment.
Students will learn the process of developing a sound landscape plan.
Students will neatly draft detailed landscape drawing.
This course is designed to provide students with the basic skills and knowledge utilized by the green industry in nursery production and management and landscape design and management. Classroom and laboratory activities are supplemented through supervised agricultural experiences and leadership programs and activities.
This is another option to take in order to finish the Agriculture Pathway.
Students will be introduced to a variety of careers in the floral industry.
Students will learn key identifying characteristics for most flowers used in the floral industry today.
Students will learn the basic design techniques through hands-on practice with fresh cut flowers.
This laboratory course is designed to prepare students to apply systematic business procedures and design principles in the operation of a retail or wholesale floral business. Students will learn about the cut flower industry, the history of floral design, identification of flowers and foliage, design shapes, mechanics of design, everlasting flowers, and use knowledge and skills to create custom design work for special occasions.
This class is reserved only for students who have finished their Agriculture Pathway and have a teacher recommendation.
This course is designed to introduce students to the concepts of sustainability related to agriculture production.
Students will learn how to implement production and marketing practices that are profitable and environmentally sound while meeting the needs of both the present and future generations.
