Registered Student Organization (RSO) Officers are responsible for the day-to-day operations of the RSO including drafting and upholding the organization's charter, member recruitment, programming, representation of organization at University events, responsible management of any RSO funds, and other administrative duties.
All RSOs must have at least three student officers who are currently enrolled at the University. These students must be currently enrolled as students in a New School certificate or degree program and be in Good Academic Standing and Good Disciplinary Standing.
You are able to receive all the benefits of being an officer within your student organization when existing officers indicate you as an officer manually through the roster function on Narwhal Nation; or, by indicating you as an officer through registration or re-registration.
Prior to registering: please be sure to review and absorb the school's Policy and Guide for Student Organizations.
To summarize what you will need within the Registration Process:
(Requires 3 Officers and 2 Members) Submit your registration through Narwhal Nation.
Develop or update your group's Constitution (TEMPLATE LINK HERE) detailing the mission, goals, and procedures of the organization.
Provide the name and contact information of a full or part-time faculty/staff advisor, who will then confirm and consent to be your advisor through Narwhal Nation.
Have 3 Student Organization Officers complete the CANVAS MODULE that incorporates Title IX Training, Event Planning, and Treasurer Information.
If you encounter any hiccups or questions as you seek to register your group, students are able to email studentorgs@newschool.edu or schedule appointments with our team through Starfish!
