Mindfulness means paying full attention to something. It means slowing down to really notice what you're doing. Being mindful is the opposite of rushing or multitasking. When you're mindful, you're taking your time.

Why Do We Need Mindfulness?

Being mindful helps you:

  • pay attention better

  • be less distractible

  • learn more

  • stay calm under stress

  • avoid getting too upset about things

  • slow down instead of rush

  • listen better to others

  • be more patient

  • get along better

  • feel happier and enjoy things more


Here’s a quick writing exercise that soothes the soul. Grab a pen and paper and go for it!

  • Write down 5 things you can see (look around the room)

  • Write down 4 things you can feel

  • Write down 3 things you can hear

  • Write down 2 things you can smell

  • Write down 1 good thing about yourself--take a deep breath and read over your answers!
