Memory Care

Poem - by Gene Twaronite

Preserved like a dragonfly caught in flight, each delicate tracery

of winged thought kept forever sharp and catalogued

at precise moment of impact, awaiting future cognitive

reconstruction of all she knew about the invaders’

defenses and plans of

attack and what her

brain recorded as

the extraterrestrial

desperately tried

to communicate

before she

stepped

across

the line

to enter

the mine-

field.
