For our capstone project, we chose the topic Gun Violence because it has been a major issue over the years, some instances reported and some that go unnoticed. We went through a lot of different project ideas but over all chose this one.
This semester, we interned at Fleurish Printing to design shirts that encouraged people to fight against gun violence. We then sold the shirts to our peers to raise money for an organization that is working to stop gun violence.

As a senior, I felt it was my responsibility to hold our school accountable to its mission for the current and incoming students of New Harmony High School. I wanted to ensure that we held a focus on environmental education within our school's education.
This project had several main components before I wrote my gap analysis. I conducted a series of interviews with the students and staff at NHH, along with teaching a sustainable math lesson to a freshman algebra 1 class for which I was a teacher's assistant. I also sat in on multiple classes to get a first-hand understanding of how our education intertwined with sustainability.

Our project is about human and reproductive health. We choose to talk about human and reproductive health because when schools teach sex ed, they don't cover all topics. They just discuss the points they think are important, or they don't teach it at all . We decided that teaching our own sex education classes would open this problem up to other schools and programs. We made slideshows to present, and we made deliverables to go with them. We also created period packs to hand out to homeless shelters. Finally, we tried to make an Instagram page to teach people about sex and reproductive health, which didn't go as planned so we used the Instagram as way for students to get in touch with resources. Our overall goal is for students, staff, parents, and teachers to be more aware of what goes on within their body and sexual life. And for students and parents to have a connection to learn on how to teach one another about each other's bodies.

For the past 2 years, I've been looking into black trauma and its effects on the black community as a whole. Through this experience, I wanted to learn from people around me about how they feel and how different generations process things like trauma. For my project this quarter, I decided to interview different people and make artwork based on their experiences. I also made a blog with extra information and artwork with my interviewees' stories so I can share knowledge and bring light on problems we face in our community everyday.

For my capstone, I created 4 different scrapbooks to show the representation of black hair and the Crown Act. I also wanted to share the names of those who had to experience hair racism publicly and socially. I completed interviews to help get stories out that people might not know about. I also created an Instagram to be able to reach further than just with in my community here in New Orleans, LA. My page consists of a personal, research, opinion, and interview post. The scrapbooks were a way to continue the project in my own way.

My project is about how New harmony High can support the young women in our school who come out about sexual harassment. I started my project with research on the statistics on why women who reported sexual abuse had a decline in academic performance. I found evidence from multiple sources explaining that most women who went through sexual abuse and had no help from their school following their report, tended to either fail or drop out completely. I've dedicated my project to advocacy for sexual assault resource availability at New Harmony High to hopefully take the school in the right direction and let survivors know that they are supported.
