Service can be described in various ways. In the routine of the day's work, many opportunities arise to help others. Willingness to work for the benefit of those in need, without monetary compensation or without recognition, is the quality we seek in our membership. We are committed to the idea of volunteering our time and abilities to the creation of a better tomorrow.
In order to be inducted into NHS, all candidates must complete a service project that consists of at least 15 hours of service work. In addition, to those hours, all current and new members complete several individual service projects throughout the year. The chapter also plans group service projects including; working in the concession stand at sporting events, hosting an ice cream social in appreciation of all school staff, raising funds for cancer awareness, decorating a Christmas tree at the Newell Library, adopting a family at Christmas time, making dog toys and dog treats to be given to an animal hospital, and donating food to the local food pantries.
