I pledge myself to uphold
the high purposes of the National Honor Society to which I have been selected; I will be true to the principles for which it stands; I will be loyal to my school; And will maintain and encourage high standards of scholarship, service, leadership, and character.
The induction ceremony is the exciting pinnacle of every chapter’s activity. The new members of the National Honor Society will give a brief description of their service project. During the ceremony, the current members of the society explain the significance of the candle symbolizing knowledge. Other officers or members follow the same pattern until each candle has been lighted and described. The new members are then inducted by the lighting of a candle and signing the official registry of the Newell-Fonda National Honor Society. New members are given membership cards and a pin as proof of their membership. Candidates will recite the National Honor Society Pledge.
A reception is held for the inductees, their parents, and special guests following the ceremony.
