Hello, my name is Gissete Mejias. I am the family Engagement specialist at Alfred J. Gomes School. I have 18 years of experience working with families and preparing events for families. My passion is to be able to satisfy the needs of families and to be able to guide them in the right way, I am passionate about music and reading outside of my work I am a minister of this city and I also work with 63 Hispanic churches, I do not have any type of preference I am a very neutral person also I speak Spanish and understand Portuguese. I hope I can be of great help to you and your family. 

Hello! I am Katelyn and I am the Events Coordinator for our Wraparound team. I have spent the last year at New Bedford High School as the Family Engagement Specialist and I am so excited to support my team in this new role. I have a vast background in the arts and I love to inspire students and families to use whatever creative talents they possess to enrich their community. 

I am originally from Taunton, Massachusetts and when I am not working I can be found collaborating with community arts programs throughout the south shore. I stage manage for Mass Arts Society in Mansfield, perform for Norton Singers productions, and I have been a visiting instructor for Applause Academy in Taunton for the last ten years.

Mercy Nunez is a Family Engagement Specialist at Normandin Middle School and schools in the Northern area of New Bedford. As a mother of two New Bedford Public School students she is honored to be working with New Bedford Public Schools and growing within our district. Her passion is to connect families with community resources and support them in any way.  

My name is Naralin and I am the family engagement specialist at New Bedford High! Growing up with immigrant parents who didn’t have the knowledge or access to what’s available today, navigating through school in my younger years was primarily a self-effort.

To be able to help close the gap between home life and the school community means a great deal to me. Being involved in my church youth group has grown my desire to steer people in the right direction.

I believe everyone deserves a fair chance, so I am excited to be able to support students and help them have a smooth experience throughout their academic journey. I am here to be a resource for the Whaler families!

Hi, my name is Angela Souffront and I am the Jacobs Elementary Family Engagement Specialist. Being able to work with the community is very important to me because I am able to be a part of helping and seeing the community grow and improve. It is essential to create an environment where the members of the community will feel that they have a sense of belonging, a feeling that members matter to one another and to the group. Embracing different cultures through working with the youth ministry in Fall River helps me experience what it's like to be a part of a community other than my own.
