Rachel Carson was born on May 27,1907 in Springdale Pennsylvania. Her mother's name was Maria and her father's name was Robert.Rachel had two siblings, Marian and Robert Jr. Rachel loved playing in the woods and listening to her mother's conch shell. She would pretend that she could hear the the sea. Rachel wanted to have a short story in a magazine called the Nicolas Magazine, so that other kids around the world could hear her story.Rachel was mostly by her self all the time. But she didn't care she loved writing. Finally in 1918 she finally had a story in the Nicolas Magazine. She started entering more issues and got money certificates at a very young age. In 1915 Rachel entered a Collage for woman. Then Rachel has to make a decision she had to pick what she wanted to study and become. She had to choose between being a writer or being a scientist. Rachel choose science. Rachel started working in 1935 at Bureau Fisheries. Rachel's Father also dies in 1935. Rachel's mom and her rest of her family were very sad. It was a hard time for the Carson family. Rachel has many adventures in her work career.

After working at Bureau Fisheries she decides to start writing again. In 1941 Rachel published her first book called Under The Sea Wind. It wasn't a big hit at first but it started selling shortly after. 10 years later Rachel comes out with her second book called The Sea Around Us. in 1952 Rachel receives the Nationl Book award. In 1955 Rachel comes out with a third book called The Edge Of The Sea. And it was a huge hit Rachel started getting a lot of money because of her book. In 1957 Rachel adopted her nephew Robert because his mother died. In 1958 Rachel's mother dies and it is a even sadder time for the Carson family. In 1962 Rachel came out with her fourth book called Silent Spring. In 1964 Rachel dies of breast cancer at the age of 56. Rachel's research with environmental issues are continued to be talked about today.
