This is an assignment that focused on team work and realtionship builidng in the workplace. Each student did a survey regarding their current workplace and we explored ways that we communicate and work together as a team. This provided insight on ways to better improve communication as a group which would help benefit the quality of care our resident's recieve on a day to day basis.
Communication is by far the one of the most important aspects in nursing that promotes patient satisfaction and top-quality nursing care. As nurses, we have to develop the ability to communicate both interprofessionally and with our patient families during all stages of life. In order to work efficiently, we must collaborate with both staff and patients regarding their care. We must allow our patients the autonomy to make their own choices while providing non-bias information, so our patients can make informed decisions regarding their treatment plans. We also must have the ability to manage their care in a professional manner that promotes the plan of their own choosing. My communication skills have definitley improved throughout the duration of the program, and I have gained a lot of confidence in my teaching skills for both patients and their families.
When I first started working as a licensed practical nurse, I lacked confidence when communicating with patients and their families. However, throughout the duration of the program I have gained a lot of experience communicating with patients and memebers of the healthcare tam, and I know I will make a valued member of the care team in the future as a professional nurse.
