Conferences
International Scholars may apply for funding of up to $1000 to present their research and/or attend national conferences. The conference should have a clear relation to the scholar’s academic program at Notre Dame.
Conference Funding Requirements (to be sent to Holly Rivers):
A one-page proposal that includes a conference description, a web address for the conference, and justification for attendance
A statement of support from your ISP faculty adviser sent directly from the adviser to Holly Rivers
Students may not miss any classes while using funding from the Kellogg Institute.
Please note that proposals should be submitted to Holly Rivers at least five weeks in advance of the conference. Students will pay their expenses and request reimbursement for all approved expenses. Plane tickets must be purchased at least three weeks in advance of the departure date in order to be reimbursed.
Within one week of their return, students must work with Emily Hunt for expense reimbursement as stated in the award notice.
The Conference Follow-Up Form should be submitted to Rachel Thiel within two weeks of return.
Campus Conferences
Edith Stein Project (early Spring): The Identity Project of Notre Dame hosts its annual Edith Stein project conference on masculine and feminine human dignity within the context of the Catholic Church. Faculty, students, and members of the larger community are invited to present research and join in dialogue on issues of faith and culture. Human Development Conference (Spring): This conference hosted by the Ford Family Program in Human Development Studies and Solidarity brings together students from Notre Dame as well as other universities in the US and abroad to share their research experiences and perspectives on human development. Student Peace Conference (Spring): The Student Peace Conference hosted by the Joan B. Kroc Institute for International Peace Studies is planned by undergraduate students at Notre Dame. It provides students from across the country with a forum to explore issues of peace and social change and to present their research on these topics. http://www3.nd.edu/~peacecon/index.html
Undergraduate Scholars Conference (Spring): This conference sponsored by the Flatley Center for Undergraduate Scholarly Engagement offers students the opportunity to present their research. Presentations may include senior theses, capstone essays, as well as independent research projects and works of art and design, film, and music. The conference draws over 100 students from various majors and is open to freshmen through seniors.
