Any career center student interested in exploring their career field at a deeper level is eligible to participate.
Internships involve working for an employer for a specified period to learn about a particular industry or occupation. Student’s workplace activities may include special projects, a sample of tasks from different jobs, or tasks from a single occupation.
Job shadows are unpaid experiences where a student follows an employer for a short period to learn about a particular occupation or industry. These usually last anywhere from a few hours to a full day.
Paid work experiences include employment with a community partner. Students report to the job as a paid employee. The experience is guided by a training plan and the employer evaluates the student on their program proficiencies and workplace skills.
Tours are a group excursion to observe a work site first-hand. Students learn about the business, meet employees, ask questions, and observe work in progress.
