What is Work-Based Learning?

Work-Based Learning is a program for students at the North Country Career Center where they can learn, earn credit, and practice skills related to a career center program. WBL involves career awareness, exploration, preparation, and training. It can include but is not limited to informational interviews with employers, short-term unpaid experiences like job shadows, or long-term paid positions.

These experiences can occur during and/or outside of the regular school day.  In addition to working with one of our community partners, students meet with their Work-Based Learning Coordinator regularly to reflect on their experience and discuss the skills and knowledge they are developing.
