Student’s Responsibilities: (The student must have a clear understanding of WBL and must be willing to accept the expectations and responsibilities. Any violation of the following list of expectations and responsibilities could be a cause of dismissal from WBL).
The student must understand that the WBL is a privilege and not a right.
The student must arrive at school on time and attend classes each day, including before and/or after reporting to work.
The student agrees to work and study diligently. Students must have a 2.5/C+/77 or better in ALL courses to continue in the WBL program.
The student must check email regularly, complete all assignments in Schoology, hand in all paystubs (minimum of twice a month), and check in with the WBL coordinator.
A regularly scheduled meeting with Mrs. Carbine will be scheduled at the onset of the signup process. These meetings must be followed through with for the student to maintain his or her WBL status.
A student will remain in favorable behavioral standing. Behavior will be monitored, and insubordination and/or disciplinary infractions at the career center or the student's sending school will be grounds for probation and/or dismissal from the program. Inappropriate behavior includes but is not limited to fighting, safety violations, inappropriate language and or attire, cell phone violations, class cuts, bullying, harassment, driving without permission, and academic dishonesty.
The student shall notify the WBL Coordinator, Instructor, and work site supervisor no later than the day of if he or she is unable to report to work.
The student may not quit a placement without notification to the WBL coordinator.
The student must understand that confidentiality is an integral part of WBL. Please refer to the confidentiality contract for specifics
The student realizes that WBL is designed for training and is not just a part-time job. A minimum of 8-12 hours per week must be averaged for credit.
The student is subject to all regulations applying to other employees while working at the job site/place of employment.
The student will be responsible for transportation to and from work, and the vehicle providing transportation must be insured. The student's license and a copy of insurance must be on file with the WBL coordinator before the student is permitted to start their placement. During school hours, the student will drive to work alone and will not be allowed to transport other students. The student must always comply with VT driving laws. Please refer to the transportation contract for more details.
The student's work site supervisor will prepare an evaluation of the student's progress using the form supplied by the school. This includes workplace skills and program competencies being addressed at the workplace, identified by the student's instructor.
