Orientation Plan
Please cover these topics with your intern on the first day.
Company/Organization Overview
Review Company/Organization expectations of the Intern including:
Role Intern will serve at the Company/Organization
Mutually agreeable schedule for the Intern (discuss 30 minute lunch break)
Attendance policy
Review origin of Company/Organization
Review Company/Organization Mission Statement
Review Company/Organization culture including:
Dress code
Confidentiality rules, if applicable
Rules governing personal use of technology at the workplace
Explain roles and responsibilities of each member of the team to which Intern is assigned
Introduce Intern to direct report
Introduce Intern to key personnel
Provide tour of the Company/Organization including:
Parking facilities and rules
Location of rest rooms, cafeteria (if available), copy machines and applicable departments
Practical issues
Establish a work station for Intern (if applicable)
Establish a daily or weekly check in schedule for Intern and direct report
Provide Intern with information and/or instruction on any systems, hardware or software that is unique to the Company/Organization and which the Intern will be using
Projects & Goals
Identify key projects to assign Intern
Assist the Intern with establishing a goal(s) for the Internship
