NCHS Senior Internship Program
New Canaan High School is proud to be in year thirteen of its Senior Internship Program (SIP).
For the 2023/24 school year the Senior Internship Program will be from May 20th to June 7th. On May 20th there will be a mandatory student meeting from 9:25am to 11:30a.m.
The Program offers NCHS seniors an opportunity to explore future careers by experiencing the world of work first hand. It also provides businesses with motivated and eager workers and a potential pool of future employees.
What to Expect:
SIP is an approximately three to four week, unpaid internship. It is scheduled for the last three to four weeks of the academic year.
Interns will work on-site at a business or organization approximately 25 hours per week, according to a schedule determined by the work site supervisor and the work site's needs. Interns will have tasks to complete off-site, such as self reflection journals, goal setting worksheets, and timesheets.
SIP is designed to operate during school hours (on-site hours will be scheduled between 7:30 a.m. and 3 p.m.) but other arrangements may be made with particular Interns.
To the extent possible, students will be matched to an internship that matches their skills and interests.
