All students are provided the opportunity and necessary support to engage in relevant, challenging work which contributes to their academic and social growth and development. All staff, teachers and administrators are part of a larger learning community working together to build collective capacity in order to provide a high-quality, relevant, equitable education for all.

A Message From the Principal
Shaker High School is proud to offer one of the most comprehensive and diverse programs of study in the Capital Region. Our 2026–2027 Course Catalog highlights the wide range of academic courses, electives, and specialized programs available to our students. Updated annually, the catalog reflects our ongoing commitment to providing a rigorous, engaging, and enriching educational experience that meets the evolving interests and needs of our school community.
Course selection is an important opportunity for students to reflect on their strengths, explore their interests, and make thoughtful decisions about their academic futures. The courses students choose not only shape their high school experience but also help establish a foundation for future college, career, and personal goals. We encourage students and families to carefully review the many opportunities available and engage in meaningful conversations about academic interests, aspirations, and appropriate levels of challenge.
Our school counselors play an essential role in guiding students through this process. Working collaboratively with students and families, counselors review academic progress, discuss future goals, and help develop course selections that balance academic rigor with individual interests and strengths. Our dedicated faculty and administrative team are also available to answer questions, provide guidance, and support students in making informed decisions.
At Shaker High School, we believe that every student should have the opportunity to discover their passions, challenge themselves academically, and pursue a pathway that inspires future success. I encourage all students to approach the course selection process with curiosity, confidence, and a willingness to explore new opportunities.
