Group Assignment Settings

Moodle assignments can be set to require that students submit work in collaborative groups. This feature will also  apply grades and feedback for all students in each group within the assignment.

Important Note:  Student groups must always be created in the course in order for group assignments to function correctly.

This guide explains the necessary settings for enabling  the group functionality in an assignment activity.  Please refer to the guide on Creating Assignment Drop-boxes for the basic assignment set-up process.

Step 1: Click Turn editing on.

Step 2: Locate the assignment, click the Edit link (the three dots), and select Edit settings from the drop-down menu

Step 3: Scroll down and click the Group submission settings heading to expand the options.

Step 4:  Click the Student submit in groups field and select Yes from the drop-down menu.

Tip: You will be unable to adjust this setting if a single student has submitted, it will be locked!
