ZipGrade
ZipGrade is replacing the Remark Test Grading System. It is a (mostly) virtual grading system that appears similar to the traditional bubble sheet that students use for multiple choice exams, however its digital format makes grading and data analysis much easier for instructors. Materials needed to use ZipGrade are a tablet or smart phone with a built in camera, and a printer. A desktop or laptop is necessary for more advanced features. For any issues not addressed on this support site, see ZipGrade's Support Site.
Notes: All ZipGrade screenshots on this support site are from an Android device. Visuals may vary for Apple devices.

You can create an answer key through the app or through the desktop website. First, navigate to the Quizzes section on either device, and select New Quiz (see Figure 1).
Enter in a Quiz Name, select the size of the Answer Sheet (20, 50, or 100 --- always round up the number of questions you have), and select the Date the exam will be given. Save your quiz.
Note: Online Open Submission is for remote tests. Also note that Classes regards your students' information, and is not recommended due to FERPA.
Select Edit Answer Keys, or Edit Key on mobile, and begin entering your answers using A, B, C, D, or E as the choices (see Figure 2).
Note: You may have to update your tests to reflect these choices --- if so, check out this tutorial.
Figure 2
As you enter the answers, ZipGrade defaults to making each question worth 1 point. If all of the questions are worth the same and worth more than 1 point each, edit the Default Point Value (see Figure 3). If point value changes within the assessment, you will have to manually edit the points. Note that on Mobile, you will have to change each point value manually.
Tip: Do not use the arrows that pop up when you select the points box. Each click edits the point value by 0.0001.
If you have fewer exam questions than the answer sheet can hold, leave the rest blank. Once finished, press Save Key at the top or bottom of the page.

For Multiple Correct Answers, click +Answer on desktop or Add Answer in the Answer Detail area on mobile.
To set up Multiple Keys to one test, you can simply press Add New Key (see Figure 4). Decide if you will be Mapping the Questions (shuffling the same questions) or Providing the Answers (manual input of new answer key).
If you are Mapping the Key, you will need to know the new question number for each question from the original key, and match them up; The answers choice must be the same, not shuffled.
Note: If you have multiple keys, have the students indicate which test version they are taking on their Answer Sheet. This will make it easier for you when grading.
To Print Answer Keys, select Answer Sheets and print as many as you need of the PDF that opens. On mobile, navigate to Account, scroll down and select Blank Sheets, and choose the key you want to print (see Figure 5). Connect to a wireless printer, and select Print.
Note: If you are using mobile but cannot print, you can print standard ZipGrade answer sheets from any computer without logging in. You can print custom answer sheets for any quiz you create, but this involves creating classes and entering student information, which could be a FERPA violation. Please reach out to TLT to discuss this option.
To create Custom Answer Sheets, follow these instructions.

You must use a tablet or smart phone with a built in camera to scan the answer sheets.
Open the ZipGrade app and select the Quiz you want to grade. If the answer key has been set up, you will be able to select Scan Papers. Allow camera access if you haven't already.
Align the four black corners squares on the answer sheet with the four on the screen. The app will automatically capture the image and confirm with a shutter click noise and vibration.
You can then review or make changes to the answer sheet (see Figure 6).
To scan and score tests with Multiple Keys follow the directions for scanning a test as usual. Once done, you can go into the app or the website and designate a specific key for each scan. Navigate to Graded Papers, and select the student that needs to be updated. Select Change Key, and select the version of the test that the student took, and press Save. ZipGrade will automatically update the grade.
Editing Responses can only be completed on a tablet or smart phone. Select the test, then select Review Papers. Select the student whose answer sheet needs editing. In the top right, select the menu with the three bars, and press Edit Answers (see Figure 7). From this screen, simply tap an X to deselect it, or tap an answer to select it. Press the back button and the grade will automatically recalculate.

All data will be found on the Quiz page. Select the Quiz you want to analyze and scroll down (see Figure 8).
Quiz Details: Quiz information that can be edited, such as Name, Answer Sheet, Date, and Classes.
Answer Key: View and edit the Answer Key.
Online Submission: Use this area to set up Remote Testing.
Quiz Statistics: A brief statistical overview of the papers scanned. Data can be downloaded in many forms, but selecting PDF > Page for Each Paper is a good choice to show students their own results while keeping the original physical answer sheets for yourself.
Item Analysis: Shows the overall responses by question, as well as the selected incorrect answers. Mapped extra answer keys are auto-calculated. To download an Item Analysis, under Quiz Statistics, select CSV > Item Analysis.
Score Distribution: A simple line chart showing overall test score results.
Graded Papers: Results by paper. Select the student name to review their individual paper.
Mobile users can only view overall statistics and Item Analysis on the app. Select the quiz you want to review and choose the data you want to see.

Remote testing with ZipGrade does not guarantee test security. Please remember this as you explore this option.
This action can only be done on Desktop.
When you activate Open Submissions, this allows you to send out a link to students to access a Virtual Answer Sheet. Because it is open submissions, students will be prompted to enter their name. They will be informed of the amount of time they have to complete the exam, and must agree to the Terms of Use.
Select the quiz you will be giving, and press View/Edit Remote Testing Options (see Figure 9). Select Enable Open Remote Quiz. Change the Quiz Options as you like, then copy and share the Quiz URL (see Figure 10).

You may use any writing utensil on a ZipGrade answer sheet, though a pencil and eraser are strongly recommended.
Fill in the heading legibly.
Based on instructor preference: For 50 or 100 question answer sheets, bubble in your ZipGrade ID number, if known (see Figure 11).
You do not need to bubble your answers in completely, but beware of not erasing completely, or making a mistake while using a pen.
It is strongly recommended that you complete and review the assessment first, and leave bubbling in the ZipGrade sheet as the very last task.
