Advisor: Mr. Marck & Mrs. Gagliano
Description/Purpose: The Freshmen Mentor Program was established to provide our incoming 9th graders with staff and upper-class student mentors that they could learn from throughout the year. Every incoming freshman student is designated a group in which they meet monthly. Topics include: goals, strategies, educational and emotional assistance as well as information on social media awareness, mental health and our Viking Values. The program also allows the students a safe place to discuss issues that the academic classroom setting may not provide.
Requirements for Participation: Each 9th grader is enrolled in the program as mentees. Mentors must be upperclassmen (11th or 12th graders) and be nominated by an NAHS Faculty Member. Throughout the year, mentors work alongside a certified staff member to serve as a role model and provide support to 9th grade students.
Major Activities: Freshmen Orientation in August/September, monthly after school mentor meetings, Mentor Day in May/June.
