Nauset Regional High School
Advanced Placement Program
AP Philosophy at Nauset
Nauset Regional High School supports all students maximizing their potential. Therefore, in an effort to increase access for all students, Nauset has an open enrollment policy for AP courses. This means that teachers will continue to make recommendations for course levels (AP/IB, honors, and A) and that students, with permission from their guardian, may request a different level while accepting responsibility for higher expectations.
AP courses are considered a rigorous college level experience and are designed to simulate the types of assessments featured on AP examinations. The level of reading selections and the related tasks in AP courses make them some of the most complex and challenging courses at the school. AP classes may assign work to be completed over the summer, weekends, and during school vacations when necessary. The content of an AP course is very comprehensive and it is expected students will work to attain excellent organizational skills, reading comprehension, and critical thinking. Attendance and work completion are expected of all students who choose to participate in the AP program. All AP students are required to take the culminating AP exam in May 2025.
