EXAM FORMATS FOR 2026 AP EXAMS
The College Board utilizes three formats for their exams-digital, hybrid, or traditional paper.
Digital: Students log into the College Board's bluebook on their school chromebook and complete the exam for both multiple choice and open responses. The softwarl tracks the alloted time and saves answers until students are ready to submit.
Hybrid: The exam starts with a digital multiple choice section. Students log into the College Board's bluebook on their school chromebook and complete the questions. The second part of the exam will provide the open response questions in bluebook and students will handwrite their answers in a paper booklet.
Paper: A few exams will still utilize both multiple choice and open response questions in exam booklets and students will record their answers in the traditional paper format. Additionally, students will record responses in the DAC app on their chromebooks.
Each exam has a different number of multiple choice questions and formats for open responses (FRQ, DBQ), and sometimes a portfolio. Please check the requirements on the College Board Website by clicking on the course and then the exam
