Immigration Resources
Natomas Charter School is proud to serve students in one of the most diverse school districts in the nation. This includes students who may be undocumented or are part of families with mixed immigration status. California law and the Plyler v. Doe (1982) Supreme Court decision affirms that all children have the right to a free public education, regardless of immigration status. In light of the new Federal Executive Orders related to immigration, along with schools throughout our district, NCS continues to reiterate our commitment to serving all students in the community. Natomas Charter School does not collect nor maintain any information regarding a student’s immigration status. This week the Governor’s Office established a website that provides immigration-related resources for families throughout the state.
New School Year Calendars Posted: This week the NCS Board of Directors approved calendars for the 2025-26 and 2026-27 school years. We encourage you to take a look at these calendars for planning your family vacations. All school calendars can be found at https://www.natomascharter.org/calendars
NCS Ranked High-Performing Charter School
Each year the California Department of Education ranks charter schools based on their California School Dashboard results. NCS continues to be ranked as a high performing charter school due to our strong academic performance in English Language Arts, Mathematics, College/Career Readiness, and English-Learner performance. Our school exceeds statewide metrics in each of these areas for the school as a whole and our student subgroups. We know this is due to the strong partnerships between educators, families, and students for ensuring every student is both challenged and supported. Thank you for being a part of our team!
Navigating Cold and Virus Season
Regular school attendance is one of the most important things for ensuring students make academic growth. At the same time, we know that students can become ill with COVID, RSV, influenza, and other viruses.
The California Department of Public Health and CalOSHA (here) updated COVID protocols to move into alignment with other respiratory viruses. The updated approach is a symptoms-based model to treat COVID the same way we handle the common cold, influenza, and other viruses. There is no longer a 5-day waiting period after the on-set of symptoms or a positive test result.
Moving forward when a student or staff member tests positive for COVID or has symptoms of respiratory viruses, individuals should follow these steps.
Seek treatment from a healthcare provider if the individual has significant symptoms or is at a higher risk for serious illness.
Keep the individual home until 24 hours have passed with no fever (100.4), without using fever reducing medication, and symptoms are mild or improving.
It is recommended that individuals wear a mask for 10 days after the onset of symptoms or testing positive.
COVID, RSV, and influenza are all active in our community. Please continue hand hygiene, wearing a mask when appropriate, and speaking to your medical provider regarding preventative measures such as vaccinations and treatments.

Free Mental Health Resources for You and Your Family
At Natomas Charter School we are proud to have a robust team of counselors and school psychologists focused on supporting all students with building strong social-emotional skills and academic learning while at school. As a school, we do not provide on-going individualized therapy, but as a parent you may need assistance supporting your child with generalized anxiety, depression, or other behaviors outside of school. At NCS we have two free resources all families can access to support their child’s mental health needs.
Cal HOPE: Provides free, online counseling (BrightLife Kids and Soluna) for children up to age 25.
CareSolace: A mental health concierge which connects families with mental health providers in our area based on your health insurance and specific needs. To access CareSolace visit https://www.caresolace.com/site/ncs or call 888-515-0595 available 24/7/365 in any language.
Reminders Regarding Telehealth Appointments
The mental and physical well-being of our students is important to Natomas Charter School. We are supportive of students making use of our on-campus resources and assist families in helping their students attend on-going therapeutic appointments through excused absences. Since returning to school we have noticed an increase in students attending medical and counseling appointments via telehealth (phone calls and video conferences) during the school day. Students may not attend telehealth appointments while at school. This presents a significant safety concern, the school cannot guarantee confidentiality of the appointment, and we do not have spaces available on campus for students to hold these appointments. If your student has a need to attend on-going telehealth appointments please check them out of school as you would for an in-person appointment.
