The Medical Office Administration curriculum prepares individuals for employment as medical administrative personnel in the areas of medical office, medical billing and coding, dental office, patient services, and medical documents. Course work includes medical terminology, computer applications, medical office management, medical coding, medical insurance and billing, medical legal and ethical issues, oral and written communication, and other topics depending on the subject area selected within this curriculum. When working with students in Catalog years 2017 and earlier, please EVALuate them based upon the archived MOA or OA checklist and the new degree track of their choice to see which option benefits them the most. Just like ITAP, it will be a case-by-case evaluation on whether it is beneficial for a current student to switch to our new degree programs. While an "old" course may sound very similar to a "new" course, a course substitution can only be done if (1) it makes sense and there is no knowledge loss for the student and (2) the "new" course is not a core course for the program. To help with this process, a document has been created that lists the core courses in each of the program / program concentrations: Core Courses in MOA / OA. This is a great reference to determine if a course substitution is even possible.
