Subjunctive v. Indicative v. infinitive

[expert-in-training]

Basic info:

There are three different types of clauses (small sentences within a sentence) that may require a subjunctive verb:

  1. NOUN CLAUSES: Where an entire clause acts as a noun / direct object

The teacher wants the students to bring their books to class. (The teacher wants it.)

  1. ADJECTIVE CLAUSES: Where an entire clause acts as an adjective that describes the object mentioned in the other part of the sentence

I'm looking for a house that has a huge backyard. (Everything in bold is describing the house I seek like an adjective.)

  1. ADVERBIAL CLAUSES: Where an entire clause acts as an adverb that describes manner, place, time, frequency, certainty, or other circumstances of the activity

I will finish watching "Avengers: Endgame" as soon as I'm done with my homework. (Everything in bold is describing WHEN I will do the previously mentioned verb like an adverb.)
