Gender Agreement

[concordancia / agreement]

Adjectives (words that describe nouns) tend to appear AFTER the noun they describe in Spanish. So instead of saying "The big dog," like we would in English, it will be ordered as "The dog big" in Spanish.

Basic info:

SURPRISE!!! Every single noun in Spanish has a gender tied to it. Yes, you read that right. These are NOT related to gender norms. For example, the word for "dress" is masculine and the word "tie" is feminine in Spanish.

For this subtopic, we will just be looking at singular nouns. If you want to find about plural nouns and adjectives, go to the subtopic on Number Agreement.
