Your avatar:
Everyone has an avatar in the Oasis. You can be who you want to be and show whatever part of you that you want to show. This is symbolism because it can represent you, but in a completely different way.
The Oasis:
Throughout the book Wade has mentioned multiple times that the Oasis is like a second reality for most people. People spend most of their time being who they want to be and showing what they want to show to others in the Oasis. It’s a way to escape what is actually going on in the real world. Wade has also mentioned that people gave up on problems in the real world and just spend their time doing “what makes them happy”. It's better to do something you love than worry.
Easter Egg:
When Halliday dies he released hints that lead the the Easter egg which granted that specific person complete control over the Oasis and a cash prize. The Easter egg can be symbolized as motivation to all of the people participating in the event. The Easter egg gives people hope, so people don’t always want to escape their REAL reality.
Tech ID Badge:
Wade gets put into a huge amount of debt which leads him to getting took away from IOI. He managed to give himself administration permissions with a fake identity that he made. He was able to edit the cameras that were watching him in his room, view all of the files about Halliday and the Easter Egg, and eventually free himself from IOI. This Tech ID Badge could symbolize his freedom and his motivation to want to win this hunt.
Extra Life:
Wade was the only one in the Oasis to receive the coin (quarter like) artifact from playing a perfect match of Pac-man. Towards the end of the novel the sixters use one of their artifacts to kill every player in the game. This allows Wade to use his extra life which allows him to eventually complete the Easter Hunt. The Extra Life symbolizes that Wade's motivation and the hard work he put in throughout the whole Easter Egg hunt. He lost family members, friends, and wasn't the richest person in the world, but somehow he won the hunt.
Anoraki's Castle:
Towards the end of the novel the sixters guarded the Castle of Anorak with a forcefield. Anorak's Castle symbolizes the difficulty of the Easter egg hunt, an average Gunter wouldn't have thought or have been brave enough to do some of the things that Wade did.
Big Red Button:
The Big Red Button that Halliday gives Wade access to symbolizes the turning off and on access to the false reality that people call the Oasis. People escape real life problems by entering the Oasis. By Wade turning off the Oasis it could change the world and allow people to solve problems that they wouldn't have solved before with the Oasis being online.
