Evansville Eagles are dedicated to creating a culture of excellence. We strive to meet the needs of all students and to live our school mission of “Empowering students to succeed in academics, attendance and citizenship.” The support of Title I funds allows us to maximize learning opportunities for all Evansville students. One way we support our students and our building culture is through our focus on utilizing Ron Clark's House system. This method prioritizes student engagement and each house represents values we hope to instill in our students including goal setting, service, courage, and friendship. Transformation Days allow teachers to transform the look and feel of the hallways and classrooms to enrich and enhance the learning of our students while maintaining a rigorous academic focus. During the 2024-2025 school year, students were transported into an astronomical space adventure and then into the Wild West filled with hands on experience as they learned about our great state of Wyoming.
Students at Evansville Elementary are each part of a house system. The Ron Clark Academy (RCA) House System is a school-wide program we use throughout our school. We divide our students into four houses, each with its own unique identity, traditions, and values, according to the RCA House System. These houses foster a sense of community, belonging, and positive school culture. The system aims to build character, encourage academic excellence, and promote student engagement. The four houses are Altruismo (House of Givers), Amistad (House of Friendship), Isibindi (House of Courage), and Reveur (House of Dreamers).
"The Essential 55" is a book by Ron Clark, detailing 55 rules and expectations he established for his students, focusing on respect, manners, and a positive classroom culture. Just like Ron Clark, we aim to instill self-respect, discipline, and a love for learning into our students, ultimately leading to significant academic improvement. We teach, reteach, and positively reinforce these rules in all areas inside and outside of our building. Kindergarten through second grade focus primarily on 11 of these rules, while grades three through learn about and practice all 55 rules.
Students at Evansville loop in grades K-1 and again in grades 4-5. Looping allows children to experience working with the same teacher in two grade levels. It encourages a positive relationship between school and home. Teachers and parents/guardians coordinate their efforts to promote student success. In addition, families can form a connection with their child's teacher that lasts longer than a typical nine-month school year.
The students at Evansville are our top priority. Our teachers work diligently to provide opportunities to our students including hands-on learning in the greenhouse that resides on our school's property. Students also participate in quarterly rewards and additional special days at school like the 100th day of school in early February of each year.
